Montreal-based a.s.k.sports to distribute Axe Bats exclusively in Canada, starting this year

RENTON, Wash. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Axe™ Bat today announced a new distribution partnership to expand the brand’s North American presence and make premium Axe Bats for baseball and softball more accessible to Canadian customers.

Starting this fall, Axe Bats will be distributed in Canada exclusively through a.s.k.sports, a leading sports consulting and distribution company headquartered in Montreal and founded by veteran sporting-goods industry executive Jon Konigsberg.

The partnership comes at a time of rapid growth for Axe Bat and is expected to improve operational efficiency and help address rising demand for Axe Bats from Canadian players, coaches, and organizations.

“We’re excited to be partnering with a.s.k.sports,” said Jay Helmick, Senior Vice President of Axe Bat. “Jon’s knowledge of the market, experience in the industry, and passion for our products make him an ideal partner as we expand our presence in Canada and grow our mission of making the best bat for the swing.”

Konigsberg brings to the partnership more than 25 years of industry experience, including 15 spent leading the Canadian Baseball Division of Easton Sports. For the past five years, he’s served as the Canadian General Manager for SKLZ, a sports-training equipment company.

“We’re thrilled to be the exclusive distributor of Axe Bats in Canada,” said Konigsberg, President of a.s.k.sports. “This is an opportunity to provide a truly unique – and better – product. In talking with customers, it’s clear that more players and coaches are beginning to understand the advantages of swinging an Axe Bat and we’re eager to begin offering a wide selection very soon.”

Konigsberg also distributes hockey accessories for Lowry Sports in Eastern Canada through a.s.k.sports, a company he founded in 2013.

Axe Bats are approved for play at all levels of baseball and softball. Axe Bat’s 2019 lineup, including new wood and wood-composite models, can be viewed at axebat.com. Canadian inquiries can be sent to Konigsberg at canada@axebat.com.
