Axe Bat Slowpitch 2023: Technical Details

Posted by AxeBat US Admin on

While Axe Bat is no stranger to slowpitch softball, one thing is for certain, the 2023 Axe Bat slowpitch lineup is turning some heads… and for good reason.  While previous model iterations have provided ample performance and durability, specifically dating back to 2021, new regulations in the industry have allowed an opportunity to capitalize on years of research and development, and create a lineup of bats currently topping the industry in barrel performance.

MOI or Moment of Inertia: What Is It?

Posted by AxeBat US Admin on

The prevalence of the term “MOI”, an abbreviation for “Moment of Inertia”, has become much more prevalent in today’s world of baseball and golf specifically. But what exactly does this term mean, and how does it relate to your baseball bat?

MOI is an engineering metric used to quantify the rotational inertia of an object – or the object’s tendency to resist angular rotation.  In this sense, it is similar to the concept of torque, and is measured in respect to a single “pivot” point.  In the case of bats, the pivot point is the hitter’s hands, and thus, all MOI measurements are calculated from a single point (6.0” from the tip of the knob) that approximates the central axis of an average hitter’s hands during the swing.

The new 3-piece Pro construction for the 2023 Avenge Pro Axe Bat features the Charged Carbon Max, a carbon composite material that brings performance to the very edge of the legal limit. The ShieldBoost Blastwall provides massive weight savings, top durability, and the largest barrel ever seen in a USSSA bat. The Shock Suspension technology intercepts vibration at the connection point, giving you the smoothest and best-feeling swing. The HyperWhip End Cap reduces even more weight for a faster and larger barrel, while the patented Youth Axe Handle provides more speed, control, and the best grip.

The In’s and Out’s of the 2023 Axe Avenge Pro Hybrid BBCOR

Posted by AxeBat US Admin on

The Avenge Pro Hybrid features the BBCOR debut of Axe Bat’s newest barrel technology: Precision Variable Blastwall.

Utilizing proprietary manufacturing technologies, our aluminum barrels are machined via CNC lathe to meet tolerances not previously possible. All 14-16” of barrel (dependent on bat length) is machined to tolerances as tight as 0.05mm – all to meet the peak performance players are accustomed to when stepping into the box with the industry’s newest hybrid in their hands.

Every size of each Avenge Pro Hybrid model is modeled via computer aided design (CAD) software to not only create product drawings and specifications for manufacturing, but more importantly, to simulate both weight and moment of inertia (“MOI” or “swing weight”) calculations before a bat barrel is ever created.  This allows our engineers to iterate countless times via CAD to ensure products are meeting specifications prior to manufacturing.
