Frequently Asked Questions

What does the USSSA stamp mean?

USSSA slowpitch bats are certified to a 1.20 BPF standard with a 240 lb compression requirement. Since September 2020, manufacturers build USSSA bats to the 240 lb compression test carrying the NTS stamp. This is the dominant certification in competitive and tournament slowpitch.

Can I use a USSSA bat in a USA Softball or senior league?

No. A USSSA-only bat is not legal in USA Softball (formerly ASA) play. Senior divisions require SSUSA or other senior certifications, which USSSA bats do not satisfy. If you play across multiple associations you will need either a dual-stamped bat or more than one bat. See the full certification guide.

Balanced, endloaded, or maxloaded — which load should I choose?

Load describes where the weight sits in the barrel, and it is the biggest factor in how a slowpitch bat feels.

  • Balanced — weight distributed evenly. Fastest through the zone and easiest to control. Best for contact hitters and players who prioritize bat speed.
  • ½ oz. endloaded — a modest bias toward the end cap. Adds momentum through contact without dramatically changing swing feel. The most popular choice.
  • 1 oz. endloaded — noticeably more mass out front. Rewards a strong, repeatable swing with added carry.
  • 1½ oz. maxloaded — the heaviest bias. Built for power hitters who already generate high bat speed.

What is the difference between the Axe Handle and the Flared Handle?

Both are available across this lineup. The Axe Handle is the original asymmetrical profile, oriented to the hand with a flat face that seats against the heel of the bottom hand. The Flared Handle adds a flare for a different feel and added hand security. Because the handle fixes the bat's orientation in your hands, Axe barrels are engineered with a defined hitting zone on one side — keep the marked zone facing the pitcher.

Which models are in this lineup?

Fury Bravo is the current flagship, in balanced, ½ oz. endloaded, 1 oz. endloaded, and 1-piece configurations, plus player and team editions developed with John Radich, Joey Kampfer, Justine Smith, Zane Migues, Mac Rio, and the i-57 team. Barrel lengths run 12", 12½", and 12¾" depending on model. Fury 1-Piece Special Edition remains available for players who prefer the prior generation's feel.
