OUR MOST COMMON QUESTION ANSWERED!
SHORT EXPLAINER: DO I NEED TO ROTATE THE BARREL?
SHORT EXPLAINER: DO I NEED TO ROTATE THE BARREL?
The Axe wasn’t an accidental or arbitrary design. Over 150 years ago, when baseball bats were first made, the only technology available was a lathe. Because a lathe spins a bat on an axis, the entire bat had to be round, including the knob and handle. Now we have the ability to manufacture the handle in a way that makes the most sense for the hitter. Now, every curve and angle is bio-mechanically superior to the traditional round knob, and every other bat on the market.
The pinky finger should wrap around the front hook portion of the Axe knob, while the bottom of the knob is flush with the base of your palm. The handle should feel natural and comfortable in your hands.
On our newest models you will notice an "X" on the engineered hitting zone, so the ball should make contact on that side.
Players of all ages nationwide are swinging Axe Bats. Our bat is approved for play at all amateur and professional levels and is being swung exclusively by college baseball programs from NCAA Division I to NAIA. In Major League Baseball, over 100 players have swung an Axe-Handle bat during the regular season. Since 2015, those players have recorded more than 2,100 hits, 300 home runs, and 1,100 RBI. Among the stars to have swung it are Mookie Betts, Carlos Correa, Jake Lamb, Dustin Pedroia, George Springer, Dansby Swanson, Kris Bryant, and Yordan Alvarez.
Lots of things, because it’s
the only handle built for your swing. Pick it up, and right away you’re going to notice it’s more comfortable than the round knob you’ve been swinging. That superior grip is going to allow you to control your barrel more precisely, even while swinging at max effort. The handle also is going to give you about 15-20 degrees more in-plane rotation, allowing you to maximize your bat speed.
Yes, both left-handed and right-handed hitters can swing the same Axe bat.
Everywhere! The Axe handle is approved in all major, amateur, and professional leagues in baseball, fastpitch softball, and slowpitch softball. Every Axe Bat is tuned to the maximum legal performance under all new bat regulations. Approvals include: MLB, BBCOR, USSSA, Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball, Pony Baseball, AABC, ASA, ISA, ISF, and NCAA. Check your required league approvals prior to purchasing your Axe.
No, you don't! Because we know where the ball will hit the bat, we can focus our construction on that portion of the bat. Similar to how a Golf Driver is designed.
On our newest models you will notice an "X" on the engineered hitting zone, so the ball should make contact on that side.
No. Think of the design like a Golf Driver. In fact, one-sided hitting is a performance advantage for us. Our engineers know where contact on the barrel will occur and can develop technologies to ensure Axe Bat barrels perform to maximum allowable standards and remain strong and durable throughout the
lifetime of your bat. This technology is built into what we call our Engineered Hitting Zone, which covers the 270° surface on which you will always make contact.
Regardless if you’re a lefty or a righty, you will only hit the Axe on a 330° portion of the barrel. This is the ‘Engineered Hitting Zone.’ The top of the bat (the 30° non-hitting portion of the barrel) is the only area of the bat not designed for maximum performance and durability. On the Axe the ball only makes contact with the “sweet spot” and ours is as big or bigger than anybody’s.
Depending on barrel material, we utilize several different technologies to achieve one sided hitting:
Absolutely. Multiple studies
have been conducted comparing the Axe Handle to a traditional round handle. The findings show that the Axe Handle enables maximum bat speed with optimal barrel control, while also providing superior comfort.

PRO STANDARD AXE HANDLE:
Axe Pro Insights: The Pro Standard Handle has been our most used Axe Handle design by our Pros since 2017. Players like George Springer, Mookie Betts, Dansby Swanson, and Yordan Alvarez use this handle. The handle features the most pro flared design and offers an unrestricted feel, allowing maximum freedom and whip of the barrel while maintaining the benefit of control in your swing.

break-in period and perform to the maximum allowable standard right out of the wrapper. They are all designed to work together. Using all three bats, as prescribed in Driveline’s program, will force your body to adapt and learn; and it is how you will achieve your greatest gains.
Absolutely. Driveline designed programs specifically for in-season players, and those are
included with the set.
The program is designed to increase bat speed. Players completing the program have
shown, on average, a 3.2 mph increase in exit velocity over eight weeks.
Yes. In fact, Driveline’s research shows players who complete the program then continue swinging Axe-Handle bats in games achieve up to 1.6 mph more in exit velocity than those who return to a round-handle bat for games.
We do not recommend it. While we have heard of programs using our underload bat in batting practice without issue, we designed the bat to be used with tee and/or toss drills, which is also the use prescribed by Driveline’s program. You run the risk of
invalidating the warranty should you choose to use the bats other than how they
are intended.
All three bats are sold with a 120-day warranty.
No, not currently. The program is only being offered as a full set with all bats designed to be used together for maximum gains.
