Six-time national champs to again swing Axe Bats exclusively, starting next season

RENTON, Wash. (Nov. 15, 2019) – Axe® Bat and Marietta College today announced a multiyear partnership re-establishing Axe Bat as the exclusive bat supplier of the storied Pioneers’ baseball program.

Marietta, winners of more national championships (6) than any other NCAA Division III program, swung Axe Bats exclusively from 2012-18, and will do so again starting with the 2020 season. The “Etta Express” also will use Axe Bat’s full line of weighted training bats for improving bat speed, barrel awareness, and swing path, in its player development program.

Marietta was among the first college baseball programs in the country to switch to Axe Bat. In 2012, their first season with the new bats, the Pioneers won a sixth national championship, led the country in hits, and batted .331 as a team.

Head coach Brian Brewer, now entering his 17th season, said returning to Axe Bat was the right decision for his program.

“We’re proud to have been among the early adopters of Axe Bats. We’ve seen the results and our players have confidence in the Axe Handle helping them achieve more powerful and consistent swings,” said Brewer, who last season won his 500th game at Marietta. “We’re looking forward to next season and excited to again be swinging Axe Bats in all phases of our program.”

In partnering with Axe Bat, Marietta will also have the opportunity to participate in Axe Bat’s newly developed bat-fitting process, which uses sensors and data-capture systems to fit each hitter to his optimal bat and handle type. Additionally, players will be able to test new Axe Bat technologies, as well as products and handle types still in development.

Marietta, based in Marietta, Ohio, recently completed a major renovation of its home stadium, renaming the facility Don and Sue Schaly Field at Pioneer Park. The upgrades and improvements give the Etta Express one of the finest facilities in Division III.

“Coach Brewer runs a first-class program that we have long admired and supported,” said Jay Helmick, Senior Vice President of Axe Bat. “We’re thrilled to be renewing our partnership and look forward to supplying Marietta with our latest bats, technologies, and training products for many years to come.”

In addition to Marietta, two other college baseball programs have won national championships swinging Axe Bats exclusively.

Axe Bat’s performance benefits are derived from the patented Axe Handle, which is designed to support the biomechanics of the swing, giving players better bat control with maximum bat speed. Learn more at www.axebat.com.
