Train With Mookie: At-Home Drills That Will Make You A Better Hitter (Part 1 of 3)

Drill: Walk Through

The walk-through drill is a great way to train timing, rhythm, and sequence. In this drill, you'll start deep in the batter's box and "walk" forward into your swing. Your emphasis should be on flow and rhythm.

Find the Axe Bat Speed Trainers that are right for you.

To start, position yourself about 4 to 5 feet behind the tee. Begin your approach with a step-behind to gather momentum, then "walk" into your swing to complete the full movement.

As Mookie Betts demonstrates above, your swing should be an explosive, but fluid motion involving many large muscle groups working in sequence, beginning with your lower half.

The more you do this drill, the more you'll feel how linear movement and energy transfers into rotational movement through the swing.
