Get To Know Axe College Athlete Tyler Simon
Axe: Where are you from? What high school did you attend?
Alban, Ga. Attended Lee County HS.
Axe: Who was your favorite baseball player growing up? Is he still your favorite player? If not, who is now?
My favorite player growing up was definitely Derek Jeter but since he is not in the league anymore my favorite player is Mookie Betts.
Axe: If you could hit a HR off one MLB pitcher, who would it be?
I would like to hit a HR off of Brusdar Graterol since he throws so hard with so much movement.
Axe: What do you love most about hitting the baseball?
I love the feeling of hitting it so solid that you can barely feel the ball hit the bat, that's when I know I got my best swing off.
Axe: What is your favorite Axe model? Why?
2022 Elite One Pro - I feel that the ball comes off the best when compared to other bats I have swung.
Axe: What music do you listen to while training?
I listen to a lot of pop and hip hop music. I like to change it up everyday.
Axe: How does handle give you more speed, control or feel better?
The handle really allows my hands to feel free and powerful. I can control the barrel better and that allows me to drive the ball to all parts of the field much easier than I can with a round handle.
Axe: What are the highlights of playing D1 baseball?
Playing D1 baseball is a dream come true. I get to play at the highest level that college has to offer. I get to play against some of the best competition in the country. I enjoy competing with my team and meeting so many friends and making memories that I will have forever.
Axe: Biggest tip for kids aspiring to play collegiate baseball?
I will tell any person that wants to play college baseball that you must make sacrifices when you're younger that will pay off in order for you to earn a spot on a college baseball team. You must put in the work and effort every day.
Axe: What’s one hitting tip you would give kids?
I would tell anyone to have the mindset of driving the baseball up the middle of the field. This is what I tell myself when I hit and I think it gives me the most success.
